The requirements to teach English abroad vary region-by-region and country-by-country. But if you’re wondering, what do I need to teach English abroad, Here are the 9 key requirements to teach English overseas no matter where in the world you plan to teach:
- Aged 24 – 55. Each country is different so is the requirements, so although 24-55 is a general, please do check with us if you fall outside of these age brackets.
- 120-hour in-class TESOL/TEFL certification from a recognised provider with practicum element shown on the certificate. Don’t worry, take one of our courses and get a guaranteed Job.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.A Degree in education isn’t required and some require no degree at all
- Applicant must be a native English speaker – if not then an English test will need to be taken and certificate given of English given plus 12 years English Schooling provided.
- Applicants are required to pass a Local Criminal Background Check
- Applicants must be a passport holder of one of the following countries: USA, Canada, South Africa, UK, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland.
- Be fit & healthy no existing medical conditions.
- A Clean Police Background Check.
- 6 months on your passport – if you are going to travel make sure you have at least 6 months left on your passport.
